    cvt transmission fluid check

Koby, Did you do a change by dropping the pan, or a flush? If you dropped the pan did that get all the fluid out? I know there isn't a torque converter holding fluid, but I figure there is still some in lines that won't easily drain. Thanks!

2014 corolla LE real world mileage

Highway I normally drive ~ 62 to 65 mph and get 40 mpg in the cold. In the summer it was closer to 45. If there's a lot of non-highway driving, high 30's. I drive very conservatively.

    2014 Corolla le

26.5 mpg, with 70% city driving, in a MN winter, is normal. And I agree with others that 30 seconds of warm-up is fine, unless you're like me and sometimes start up the car, go back inside, and wait for the cabin to get warm and the window frost to melt :).

    Trade In Value

Assuming it's an LE, if a dealer said 7.5k, they're expecting to sell it for about $11,000. If you were selling it yourself you could ask that, assuming it's not all busted up. It's why I bought a new 2014 last year.... the used 2 or 3-year old cars on the dealer lot were selling for only a...

Does anybody else hate the plastic on the doors?

I just expect that now. Cushy interiors aren't part of relatively inexpensive cars. I drive with my left hand, with my elbow perched on the door...and I have for 30 years. I've worn a spot down on all of my previous cars at that spot (and the 10 o'clock position on the steering wheel where...

    MPG

Your calculations are seriously wrong, or there is something seriously wrong with your car or how you drive (and based on your description, you drive fine). I get better mpg than that on my 13-year-old, 3-ton Buick in city driving. I get 30+ or so mpg on my 2014 Corolla LE in city driving...

    Car Wouldn't Start

:) You'll be fine. Like I said, I was just doing an "old-school" break-in because I had the time. It's more emotional that technical with cars these days.

    Seat covers

Thanks, Thomas. I was looking for decent seat covers like those.

2015 1.8 CVT build and destroy.....

I would donate $100 or so for someone to take a CVT-equipped Corolla, equip it with censors and recording devices to track speed - driving habits, etc, and then let them abuse the living daylights out of it LIKE MANY NORMAL PEOPLE DO to see how the CVT and the car as a whole holds up over 5...

    385 miles on tank @80

Yep, wrong car if you're comparing it to a new diesel or to a new Mercedes with comparable mileage. You'll get 40+ mpg at 70 mph or less on the Corolla, which is where most humans drive. Corolla is an economy car. You pay substantially less, you get less. Although in my opinion, not much...

    Tires for LIFE

Wow. That's an amazing deal unless you basically paid for it in the purchase price. I assume the dealer figures that most people dump their cars after 100k miles or so, so that it's only 1 change-over, or that many people forget about the deal when they need to change tires a few years down...

    385 miles on tank @80

Sounds about right for a 2014 +. 80 mph is adding a lot of wind resistance and that does make a huge difference. I get 40 mpg or a little more on the highway at a steady 60-65 mph on my 2014 LE.

    Car Wouldn't Start

The manual covers it....no redlining, no "long" trips at one speed, no hard braking. I went the extra mile (pun intended) and would vary my driving for the first couple of thousand miles. If driving 50 or so miles on the highway, I'd get off on an exit and take side roads to the next exit or...

Why did you choose your Corolla over the Civic?

It was time to leave Honda. I was one of the suckers who bought an early 2000's Odyssey and burned through 2 transmissions (one on my dime). My 2000 Accord developed a windshield leak in the first 3 years that they would not acknowledge until I went to HQ with it, and then a year later the...

    Car Wouldn't Start

I never press the brake when starting my 2014 Corolla. I know the manual says to, but I figured that was a safety thing, not a mechanical thing.
