Do not put in a 99. Use 2000-2002 which should bolt in fine. The VVT feature in the 2000 and up is worth it alone. Low milage 2000-2002 go for $900 and up.

TIPS: !. check for codes. If none new plugs,air filter, egt, and cleaning the maf sensor, o2 sensors etc as well as putting in on a good engine OBD2 analyzer. There is a filter in the VVT system that plugs up sometimes. auto matics should be getting 35 or so in that yr.

MY manual tranny 2001 gets 40-50 all day long if I stay below 65. The automatics in the 90's get 28-35. be happy. The VVT feature in the 2000 and up models improves the economy. You will find out that these engine can be oil burners(usually rings). If yours isn't buring, be grateful and change...
