Update - just got my car fixed today and the wires were detached in both front doors as @Rawdflow noted AND the wires were corroded and almost detached at the tweeter in both doors too. The garage was able to splice in new wire and weatherized them to hopefully prevent this from happening again...

I literally just had this same issue start occuring in my 2014 LE Eco Corolla in the last couple of weeks. My driver's side speaker has been noisy off and on for awhile and I had just moved to my back speakers to avoid the static sound when music was playing... and in the last couple of weeks...
