I got the same issue with loading bar and keep restarting. Before it was ok but touch screen is failure no time to get it fix since It was still ok to access control on Button. But these day not working anymore only have the loading bar after I replace new battery.

Did they replaced any parts during the software update? How many miles have been run with your Corolla S. I have same model running 12k now.

I got my Corolla CVT firmware updated with new calibration ID JSD003 1.0 last week but no part need to be replaced. After a few days driving about 500miles, I feel it now run more smooth.
