no most likely the sensor in the master, easist way to check unplug connector. no light should only come on when you use e-brake. if light is coming on more and more frequently your fluid level is low and you probably need brakes.

how many miles? my old pick had a shifting problem, changed fluid twice and it was good as new, that old fluid was knopw to varnish up as it got old.

the level switch inside master sticks as toyotas get older, same thing happened to my camry. you can try fresh fluid, but i wound up removing and cleaning mine.

did you recently replace any bulbs? check both of your rear tail light bulb
