Newb with 2003 and 2008

Hi guys,

i'm new in any car forum but not new to cars. I have been spinning a wrench in my driveway since I had to do a clutch on my 1964 Beetle in 1979. I'm a sucker for something different--2 VV Beetles, a Subie, a 76 Cadillac Fleetwood, a Volvo 240, a Vw Jetta diesel, a 82 RX-7, and now two Corollas, both bought new. I confess to having a bit of an affair with a 1999 Forester for my son, which is a work in progress.

The 2003 Corolla has 167000 miles and has had the following work:

1. Spark plugs at 110000
2. Serpentine belt tensioner at 130000 due to hydraulic cylinder failure.
3. Idler pulley at 130000 due ro noisy bearing.
4. Exhaust system - including cat - at 155000 miles due to rusting off.
5. Timing chain tensioner at 155000 due to oil leak.
6. I did the brakes at 155000, replacing shoes, pads, drums, rorors, all hardware. Kept the rear cylinders and front calipers.
7. Fluids: I just replaced 4 quarts of coolant, at 167000 for the 2nd time.. Oil has been every 5000 or so, full synthetic most of the time. Any brand.
8. I Seafoamed the oil and changed the oil immdiately as recommended at 145000, due to noisy valves. It quieted the valves.
9. I clean the throttle body once a year.
