Corolla LE ECO

I am considering the purchase of a corolla LE ECO. Can anyone tell me if the ECO is worth purchasing for the 43 mpg highway. What mpg has anyone actually received on the highway. Also, is the LE the better choice. Thanks

Welcome to the forum, i have a corolla L 6MT, and i can get 40+ mpg highway and an average of 38. The S + will do the same thing, it seems to me that part of owning a car is the fun of driving it and a manual tranny will give you a lot of fun out of your car. Its not for everyone but it also comes with a lot less maintanance over time if you plan to keep it for a long time. My wife has a corolla LE with CVT and its a boring car to drive and its all we can do to get 30 MPG out of it. Just my 2c. Good luck on your choice, you cant go wrong with a corolla no matter what you do.

Personally, and from what I have seen in reviews it is not worth the extra money for the LE Eco. Like little rebel I drive a 2013 Manual and it is fun. If I were to get an automatic I would save money and get either the LE or S.

I bought a 2014 LE eco last year. I have about 13,000 miles now. Probably not worth the extra money. BUT at the time I bought it, they were not selling well because of the additional cost. The dealer discounted it to the same price as a base LE. Basically got the LE Eco for the price as the LE.
I don't care about the "fun" factor with the manual transmission. I live where the traffic makes manual transmissions a pain.

I think the Corolla S is a better buy. Not to mention the LE Eco is very limited on the lots to find at least in my area. The gas mileage difference is negligible so I think it would come down to looks and features.

I just bought an Eco. Although I don't have anything to compare it with, I can say went sustain speeds will give you. It mostly seems to do better on the highway.

Between 30-60mph, you can get mid 50s, 70 around 44, 75 drops off to 38-41mpg.

I picked up a 2015 Corolla LE Eco 3 weeks ago. I've put on over 1,600 miles in 3 weeks, averaging a little over 43mpg so far. I got the car on a zero down lease for $138 per month. Compared to the car I was driving before, I am saving almost enough in fuel costs to offset the cost of the lease each month!

I'm about to buy a 2015 Corolla LE Eco Premium. It's been discounted pretty nicely and I'm having it shipped to me. Any increase in gas mileage is welcome and the more advanced engine is a plus. The only thing I dislike is the rear drum brakes, but my 1990 Accord had drum brakes in the rear and it went 230k miles before it got sold. It's all about how you drive it and how well you maintain the car.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rear drum brakes, after all, the Corolla isn't a performance car, and the drums will help keep the cost of repairs lower. Part of the appeal of the Corolla is its very low total cost of ownership, not just great gas mileage.

Very true. Not to mention 16" wheels vs the 17" on the Corolla S Plus and Premium is savings on tires as well. Overall, it is a great buy and fits the bill for what I am looking for. The one I'm looking to buy also comes with the Michelin MXVP tires as well which I am happy about. One of the better OEM tires on there.

I actually went for the base Eco, complete with the 15" steel rims with hub caps. The cost of a replacement P195/65 R15 is very low, contributing to the car's overall low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

The base Eco had all the equipment that I wanted. Don't get me wrong, the 16" alloys are cool, but they are more money to buy, more money to replace if damaged, and the rubber for the 16" is more expensive, too.... Guess after getting burned so bad on my last car - the rolling money pit - I am looking for the least expensive (and still comfortable) car to drive my 100 mile per day round trip to work and back. On the last tank, I was averaging over 43mpg! Love this car!

OK... So Ive had my Corolla LE Eco for one month... I have put on almost 2,000 miles in the first month, which is exactly what I expected to be driving. I have a 100 mile a day round trip to work, so a 2,000 mile month is the norm.

So far, I am averaging OVER 42mpg! How can you beat that?! The cost to purchase was far below a hybrid or a competitive diesel, and the cost of a gallon of 87 octane is at least 80 cents per gallon cheaper than diesel.

I am really impressed with this car and feel like this is the secret jewel in the Toyota line-up!

That's really amazing. My commute to work each day is about 13 miles with a mix of city and highway driving. Here is a picture of the one I am buying probably next week.



This car would be perfect for my wife because she has a 30 miles commute daily back and forth, but with her back, she wants an SUV that's higher sitting.

I want the Eco Premium because it gives me the features I enjoy without the massive price tag that comes with the Mazda 3 S Grand Touring with all the bells and whistles. Plus, I know this car is legendary with reliability. All city driving on weekends running errands, this thing gets great mileage in the city without the hybrid part. My recent wedding I had in Jamaica, I saw thousands of Corollas ranging from 80's to 90's, to the modern one from Japan. It's truly an incredible value for the money.

I have to drive about 700 miles to get it because they only sell Corolla LE's and Corolla S in Texas, no ECO's. I wanted the softer ride and the gas mileage so I'll drive to get what I want.

Well, I just drove the car back from Georgia over the weekend. Started in Austin, TX. 2015 Corolla LE Eco Premium in 4Evergreen Mica.

75 MPH = 38 mpg on flat ground
70 MPH = 42 mpg on flat ground
65 MPH = 44.5 mpg on flat ground

Already ticked 1130 miles on the odometer in 3 days! She needs a break. Love the smooth and pillowy ride it provides. Really a great car for the great deal I got on it. No extra options besides tint, nitrogen in the tires, and carpet mats. I'm probably going to ceramic tint the windows for heat reduction, and I have an appointment for Xpel Ultimate wrap on the full hood, bumper, fenders, and side mirrors.

Sure thing! I have to get a lot of bug guts off on the front. I also noticed the beam on the front where the front license plate goes is not that fake looking carbon fiber either. It's painted a dark gray that looks real nice. My front license plate also was not drilled on, so if I happen to get pulled over for it which I highly doubt, I can just drill it on myself. A lot of people in Texas don't have one and I managed to never get pulled over in an FR-S for it.

Just came back from a trip that covered 700 miles in 4 days. Peak mileage was during a 243 mile haul through southern NY, through NJ and into DE. Averaged 46mpg at a steady 64 with AC on. Mostly flat ground..

I love this car!

Yeah, I got the MPG for 75 mph and 70 mph driving back from Georgia. Even at those speeds, 41 mpg at 70, and 38 mpg at 75. Pretty sure 60-65 is the sweet spot. This car is so comfortable and quiet for its pricetag. I'm very happy with mine.
