Need Help to Figure out the Unknown sound from wheel

#1

Need help to finding out what cause the metal sound. The metal sound is coming out from right side of the wheel (not sure which one, but I think is the rear wheel). It only happen when you put you car into drive and without Accelerating. It happen when I release my brake and the car start to slow moving and metal sound appear.

Have you considered, that the sound you are hearing is a loose or damaged bracket on your muffler? I have the same problem and finally discovered the cause. However the muffler is on the right side and your problem is on the left. Vibration sounds can be hard to find due to the fact that loose metal can resonate all over and deceive you it's true location. It could be a worn wheel bearing. A good test is to grab your exhaust when the noise happens. If it stops then its a loose connection on your bumper . If it doesn't go away it's something else. I hope this helps. Let me know if you find the source.

It is your hub cap. Cheap piece of crap but sound is harmless. Rotate the hub caps and you may find the noise stops. Only one of my hub caps makes noise if it is on the driver side front tire. Not worth it to me to buy new hub caps because I am going to put 350,000 miles on this car in 10 years. So far 79,000 miles in 2 years and 8 months. This car is a dream come true for me. My mechanic says it isn't even broken in yet and I believe it.

I have an update, I got so sick of the noise that I jacked up my car and crawled under for a look. Three seconds later BINGO. The aft part of my heatshield just before the muffler had literally rotted away away from the bolts holding it up against the undercarriage of my car. The only thing keeping it attached to my car was my exhaust pipe. When ever the car was turned on it just sat there clattering on top of the pipe . I grabbed a pair of pliers and twisted that sucker out like a loose tooth ready to be pulled. Instant fix, and it's aft of the manifold, completely unnecessary. Problem fixed. Check your heatshield for any parts that are contacting the exhaust pipe.
