oil not registering after oil pan reseal

#1
This is my first post here, and its quite an odd problem. I have a '91 with a 4A-FE engine that was leaking oil really badly from the oil pan seal. I removed the pan, scraped off the sealant, applied new sealant and re-installed. All bolts torqued to spec. Changed filter, and added 3.5 quarts of oil (per manual), however there is almost no oil registering on the dipstick. There are no signs of leaking or oil consumption anywhere. A tiny bit of oil is visible on the tip, and it is very very "watery" looking. I have absolutely no idea what could be going on with it. If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Add more oil. Not all your oil drains when you do an oil change but when you remove the pan there is oil that sits in it that will need to be replaced when going back together for example it may need 4 quarts or 4.2 quarts with that extra oil that sits in the oil pan.
