2017 Corolla Pricing and Models

#4
The front bumper on SE and above models looks too much like the Camry. Also, they completely destroyed the front and tail lights, really not a fan of those. The 50th Anniversary seems neat but not much of an incentive to buy it other than unique paint job and push start. At least that gives me more of a reason to replace my current rear wing since it looks like a majority of the new models will have one now... gotta differentiate.

And no more S trim :( what a shame.

I was hoping they would've brought the look of the Altis over as the facelift for the States. I would've traded mine in for it in a heartbeat or if I had the money, I'd buy the parts to do a conversion o_O

Could you imagine they just came out and said they were making an XRS version of the car with a 6-speed manual, connected to a 2.0L Turbocharged engine making 200 hp and 190 lbft of torque. :)

do you so like the manual ?, the automatic is very economic, such as CVT ,
i prefer manual even though i have cvt for one reason. The cvt whine is unbearable, its so loud and annoying you cant even year the engine and outside the car its even louder. that my number one complaint.

Manuals are economic as well. Less rotating weight and no parasitic drag from transmission fluid pumps, and they weight less in general.

Well, on second thought, the CVT probably wins as far as rotating weight goes.

Plus fun factor.

I guess it depends what you come from (or driving style). I find the CVT silky smooth and the car in general fairly quiet (I'm perfectly fine not earing the engine). If I had a complaint, it would be road noise.

I also want to note that I got it for $19.4k.
Wow, the '17 actually doesn't look as bad as I thought with those pics but you got yours for only $19k?? That's a hell of a steal for a brand new model. My '15 S was right under $17k with extended warranty and all.

I'm with you jolly. No complaint with my cvt...with the exception of the engine rpm noise. Took me a looong time to get used to the rpms jumping every time I get a little aggressive on the gas. But now it's not a big deal.
By road noise, are you meaning lack of substantial sound deadening material? The car has a live feel to it IMO.

Ahh the fun factor....I fear as the car manus continue to consolidate features and packages, that the MT could be discontinued. Less peeps know how to drive a stick now than say 20-30 years ago. It used to be you could choose options ala carte. I hope I'm wrong as I enjoy a manual tranny...more bulletproof, cheaper to maintain,
easy to tow, I like a stick better in snow conditions, and I get to choose my gear selection for economy or power band etc. I'm more engaged with my surroundings which is a safety bonus too.

Underneath the car, especially wheels wells, yes. It also has to do with the tires themselves (slightly worse with winter tires) but it varies with the quality of pavement. On newly paved sections, the car is whisper quiet.
It's not that bad, though. As I said, it is fairly quiet. Much more, actually, than other models I test drove at the time of buying (Mazda3/Civic).
But they could have gone the extra-mile underneath or with heavier carpet, since they did a good job with mechanical noises. Also, different ears might have different sensibilities.

That and side mirror adjustment. If you can see the side of your car in the side mirrors, they're adjusted wrong. Most places still teach that way too for whatever reason.
Indeed. It's amazing how many people even feel unsecured not seeing the side of their cars while it kills visibility. It varies with models though. I once had a Saturn for which it was virtually impossible to reach the sweet spot. But with this Corolla, no blind spot at all. Even the closer cars will be seen going from the windshield mirror to the side mirror. Actually, much to the surprise of NHTSA, studies shows that vehicles with BSM have more accident. It is thought that drivers end up relying to much on the alerts VS their own eyes.
