Oil Additive

Does anybody know if it's ok to stop using an oil additive after a couple of oil changes? My 2010 Corolla has 151,000 miles. I've used Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer the last two oil changes with Toyota 0W/20 oil. It runs fine with using it just decided to stop using it..

I would think you would be fine. I`m not really into oil additives . I think just use the 0w-20 oil as Toyota recommends and change at the intervals recommended or sooner and keep an eye on the oil level.

As a general rule, adding additional additives is not recommended.
Engine oils are already as much as 30% additives.

Buy a high-quality motor oil and chang the oil and filter regularly, and there is no need.

I'm intrigued with this new product I learned about from Jay Leno. He's such a perfectionist when it comes to his cars. It's call Archoil and it needs just a few ounces added to the oil. It sure sounds promising and his mechanics sure swear by it with all of his cars.

Ive used additives in older Chevrolet Big Block motors...but I would NEVER use on in a DOHC newer motor such as ours. You raise the viscosity to a point where the oil is not getting where it needs to be in a tight tolerance engine...my .02

I think that is the case with a lot of additives but may not be with all of them.Oil additives from years ago were a lot different than some of the high tech ones they are developing today. I'm always open to learning about new products to see if they are really something amazing or not. I'm sure that science will find something truly amazing someday.

AR9100 will not increase the viscocity of 0w20 oil. The SUS viscocity of AR9100 at 210F is 49.9, and the cSt viscocity of AR9100 at 100C is 7.25. These viscosities are within the range of what is considered a 20 weight oil, so AR9100 will not change the viscosity of your 0w20 oil and it will not impede on your engine oils flow abilities.
