About 3-4 weeks ago I got a check engine light in my 2001 1.4 Corolla. I live in Norway (don't know if the Corollas are different from the US and here), anyway, I took it to my local Toyota dealership for a scan and they said that the code showed a problem with the cat. IIRC the original owner (an old man who burnt out the clutch) said that it had some issues there, but having done only 98000km this seems unlikely. Is there something else I can try to fix, change or something to see if it cures the problem? The dealership removed the code for now and it hasn't come back yet. I can't hear any strange noises or anything, the car feels just normal.
