Hello from South Florida!

Boy do I like it down here. Rust? What rust?

Anyway, after years of driving my parent's cars I've finally got my own. A friend hooked me up with an 03 Corolla CE that looks like it just came off the showroom floor, other than the faded paint (South Florida kinda does that). It has almost 189K miles and drives like brand new. I can't imagine a better first car.

It does have a few niggles, like any 14 year old car would. The locks are kind of hit or miss. Driver's side doesn't respond to the lock button, nor does the key work in the lock. It'll unlock just fine, but locking it takes time and patience. Also, the passenger's side refuses to lock unless done manually. Strange, but whatever.

Same thing with the trunk. The lock simply does not work, it has to be opened from the inside.

Sometimes it hesitates to start, it never fails, but will often take longer than expected to start. It'll crank 6 or 7 times as opposed to the usual 2 or 3. This is intermittent.

It idles a bit hard, sometimes. I suspect this is the throttle position sensor going faulty, however the system isn't throwing any codes and this is completely unpredictable. Popping it into Neutral makes it go away.

All that to say, I love this car and don't mind a few warts if it means reliable transportation that always starts (albeit somewhat hesitantly). Especially since the car only cost me $350, this was one heck of a deal and I'm very, very happy I went with the Toyota.
