Ways to increase headroom

#1
I just traded in my 2010 S 5MT for a 2017 SE 6MT.

I am 5'11" w/ a 30" inseam (long torso, short legs)

I am having an issue w/ headroom. The 2017 has a sunroof while the 2010 did not, so I know I lose a little headroom. However, my hair is constantly brushing against the headliner (no I do not have farrah fawcett big hair either lol). I've already pumped the seat all the way down.

If I increase the seat angle to increase headroom, I find with longer drives I get neck strain as I have to bring my head forward. Also, since this moves my shoulders back, it makes it difficult to reach the shifter (in 3rd and 5th I have to use my fingertips to shift to 4 and 6). To compensate, I have to move the seat forward, which crowds my knees.

Long drives (>1 hr ) are extremely uncomfortable. I have to slouch to not constantly feel my hair rubbing the headliner (back aches). If I lessen the seat angle or "sit up" to reach the shifter more easily or reduce my neck strain it means I have to "lean" to the right for my head to be where the sunroof is as to not feel my hair rubbing on the headliner.

If I could somehow lower the seat another inch or two it would sure be helpful.

Any ideas? Is there a way to change the seat mounting hardware? Or have the "stuffing" in the seat reduced so it sits lower on the existing rails?

Wasn't expecting this issue moving from the '10 to the '17 to be honest. Put over 210k miles on my '10 and had no complaints.

Now I'm wondering, did they change the seat hardware in the 2017 models?
I have a 14 LE, standard seats with sunroof. I'm now about 5'10", approximately 30" inseam and I have poor posture. So not far off.
I have plenty of head room. Like 6" or so.
Could be a difference in the seats themselves too. Yours are "premium" and mine are standard.
(If they're black, I'll be happy to trade!)
Stop by your dealership and sit in a L or LE and see if there is a difference.

What's the difference between "standard" and "premium" seats, because, mine don't feel like premium (e.g. they're not electric, and they're mostly pleather with ?cloth? seating a back surfaces). Perhaps they're considered "premium" because they have the "cool" colored stitching to match the color accent trim, so yeah, they're black with blue stitching.

No way I have 6 inches of headroom. I can fit 2, maybe 3 fingers between the top of my head against my skull to the headliner on the left (obviously to my right more, since that's where the sunroof is.

According to Edmunds, front driver headroom on the 2010 was 38.8 in. but only 38.0 in. in the 2017, so it isn't a huge difference... but I'm thinking those figures are w/o the sunroof, which loses another 2 inches, from what I've heard.

If you know offhand, how many clicks back is your seat from the front, and how many clicks is the back support angled 'back' in your LE?

Good thought on trying an L or LE though. I'll do that on Monday when I'm back at work (near the dealership). If there is a difference, at least it may give me an indication why, although not a solution.

I've also heard vehicle upholstery shops can change the "stuffing" in the seating area (e.g. gelpads), which would make the seat sit lower, but I have no direct first-hand knowledge of this, know anyone who has had it done, or for that matter even know a shop in my area that does things like this. If I could get my ass down another inch, I think I'd be all set.

There is no way to lower the seat anymore. I"m 6"3 and have issue with the headroom, Per Toyota's website, the front headroom is 38.3" w/out moonroof and 38.0 with a moonroof.
