K&N only makes a short ram intake. I have HPS short ram and I don’t think it effected my mileage at all. But I don’t really pay much attention to the mileage.
It will however, improve your throttle response. Add a Jetchip MAFS and it gets a little better. Add a Pedal Commander and you’ll be giddy!
If your looking for true cold air intake, get injen CAI.
Short ram will increase your low end cold air will increase your top end.
The stock setup is VERY good and can be dressed up. You can put a K&N filter in it and a TRD cover from a Scion.
They really don’t work well with these newer computer-driven cars. I don’t know how much headache ECU and MAF will give you with this aftermarket part.
I have only notice the (little) changes in acceleration & performance during cooler morning drives.
The real beef I have with an air intake for the Corolla is price tag & the poor R&D from those over brand labels.

In my experience, I actually lost torque during acceleration using a cold air intake, so I ended up with a high revving engine that is slow as a turtle from a stop. I reverted to the oem intake and installed AEM dryflow filter instead. I noticed some improvement in performance. Some is better than none.
I will add that I’ve never had a trouble code from the different intakes that I’ve had.
The only code I’ve ever received from this car, was when I installed my MAFS.
Somehow I ended up with a defective one. Jetchip quickly mailed me a replacement even though I bought the broken one from Amazon.

No, not required. And it even works with stock setups.
Like mentioned above somewhere, the difference is hardly noticeable anyways for the amount of money it costs. It’s when you combine all these parts where you’ll notice a difference. I did everything piece by piece and could notice a difference with each part, although slight.

I have read on our Forum that you do not need the whole TRD Air Filter Kit, that only some parts are needed. Does anyone know which part numbers or where I could find them ? Also what year Scion for the TRD Cover? The Toyota Dealer I talked to did not have individual part numbers. ( $400 + for the KIT) I apologize for asking but I am new to this and need all the help I can get. Thank you in advance for any information on this.
