Negative wheel offset -12. Unsafe?

#1
Hi all,

Newbie here and kind of an urgent situation.

Purchasing a set of new 2017 Prius tires 195 65r15 for a good price.
Offset is 45
I have a Toyota Corolla LE 2010 same size tires also 195 65r15 offset is 33

So its a -12 offset. Will this cause any rubbing or unsafe conditions? If u are currently running -12 or more your feedback would b awesome.

Thanks ahead of time, really appreciate it.

Kind of hard to tell with so little information. As a rule of thumb, if you’re installing new tires, alling your car wheels. What might be a little variance in someone else’s car, might be catastrophic for your tires.

You didn't list the width of each wheel which will also have an affect on the issue. Going from a 33 offset wheel to a 45 offset means that your wheel will be sucked in 12mm more which might rub and look terrible. You could always use a high quality 20mm spacer to have a much better final product which will not rub.
