Trunk lock broken

#1
My 05' trunk key lock is broken(won't turn at all), don't know if it's because my key is too damaged(still works in the ignition) or if it's broken. In any case, I got it working again but I would really like to get a replacement. Is there any way I can get a replacement from somewhere without having to get new keys because that's going to get pretty expensive.

The only way to be able to use the same key is to have a locksmith rekey the new lock. In that case, you might as well buy from him/her in the first place.

That will work, as long as it's the right part.

I suggest if you do that clean and lube the lock before installing it. Spray some WD40 into it, let it drain, then spray some Teflon or silicone lube in.

For some reason I have noticed that the ignition is less picky about the key than the trunk and doors. My key works great in the ignition but I have a hard time in the doors and trunk. I did use some dry lube (graphite based) on the drivers door and it goes a lot easier.

I do but it doesn't work without the lock. I managed to bypass it by ty-wrapping it to the trunk but that will only last so long.
Sometimes you get lucky and find a key for the vehicle in the junk yard , Since it is a Toyota it is easy to take out the ignition switch with all the locks from that vehicle and replace yours or just take the trunk lock and have two different sets .

Yep that was my plan. Gonna try to get the trunk lock from the yard with the key but since its one of those stupid anti-start keys( or whatever theyre called) they charge extra for it but oh well.

Two tricks on the Anti theft key . You can use a non chipped key and put it in the ignition then place the chipped key along side the non chipped key in the ignition , You will see the blinking light go away and you can start your car .

Second you can purchase a cheap real Toyota blank key from ebay go to a key place have them cut the key and there is a simple trick to program your key without being charged if you need help programing it I can lead you to the site . I did this myself and saved some good money .

There's a site for it? How do you program a key with no input holes like USB and stuff?

I did mine off of this video in the parking lot of a Toyota dealership who wanted to charge me $75 and it work . Now it did take me a couple of times to do it but once I got the hang of it the key programmed to the car .
