How to fix the steering wonder problem on a 2010 corolla.

#1
im posting this for my parents. They bought a 2010 corolla that was effected by the steering wonder problem at highway speeds. Funny how so many people complain about it, but Toyota won’t acknowledge it. This problem has existed since new, but has gotten significantly worse at 100k miles+

I’ve further diagnosed the issue to be effected by throttle position. The car beers to the right under any amount of throttle and goes back the other way when the throttle is released.

This makes me think of bushing issues in other cars. So I’m wondering if anyone has tried replacing any of the steering or suspension bushings to fix the problem.

Are there any other solutions to this issue available?

Thanks!

I bought my 2010 new, and it had 225K or so, before it was totaled. The only part that was ever replaced (other than normal wear items like plugs, serpentine belt, etc...) on it was the front hubs. I never noticed a wandering problem, but it would {slightly} wear the corner of tires. I took it to a respectable body shop that had a Hunter alignment system, and they figured it out.

The car, early on, struck the metal end of a large hose that had fallen off of a sewage truck. The impact was at high speed, and was enough that it bent the rim. I attributed the hub issues to that impact, but it would not explain why both hubs needed to be replaced.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin on this so Toyota does know about it. You may need to go to a big fancy dealer though, as others with similar issues have seen a surprising lack of awareness at the smaller dealers.
