sounds like the clutch throwout bearing. i had an issue with one in a 2002 dakota 5spd. except that one hummed really loud. swapped the clutch with new throwout and pilot bearings and it stopped. clutch became a hell of a lot smoother too!

not only that, it acts as a band-aid. something inside is still hitting valves would be a later guess not my first. for 1.) the car would run like ASS because the valves would be getting bent and not holding combustion. or they slapped the piston... which would lead to what i just said...

sounds aftermarket. to defeat it... you have to trace it. there should be an ignition wire that has been cut and had that unit installed into it. hopefully this helps
