How Often Do You Change Your Oil?

I drive 445 miles per week (On less than one tank of gas) and it equals 23,140 miles per year. And at 7.06 per quart of Amsoil I wont be saving any money. That would be $29 just for the oil per oil change (thats for 4 quarts, I get a 5 quart jug). Plus, add in the price of a filter so just say...

How Often Do You Change Your Oil?

I noticed my corolla uses oil somewhere. Either leaks (no obvious signs tho) or burns it off. I tried 5000 miles but by then, there isnt any oil left on the dip stick. I drive 445 miles per week, so I decided to change it every 8 weeks which equals out to 3560 miles between changes. Thats about...

    Corolla Brake Problem

Actually, my goal is to beat the record at the Toyota dealer in Herculaneum Missouri. There is a corolla there they call THE MOON CAR because it has 489,000 miles on it on the original engine. Thats the same distance to the moon and back. Just to get to 450,000 miles I would have to keep driving...

    Corolla Brake Problem

So I took the wheels and hubs off again and this time I adjusted that gear until the drums just barely fit and then backed it off a little. I then drove the car in reverse and hit the brakes like 7-8 times and.......It worked! Brakes feel tighter and the parking brake works like a charm! Thanks...

    Corolla Brake Problem

Thats what I didnt do. I adjusted the star wheel in as far as it would go but didnt adjust them out until the shoes were just about to hit the drums. I just left them all the way in. I will take them apart and do them again. I did bleed the brakes once the new wheel cylinders were installed.

    Corolla Brake Problem

I assure you they are connected on both sides just as they were before I took them off. I have checked it over and over. I even had the wife pull the brake lever inside the car and I could watch the brake move without the drum on it. So I know its working. Its just not working well enough to...

    Corolla Brake Problem

Today I bit the bullet and tackled my first ever drum brake job on my 1998 corolla. I found a helpful video online and followed it to a T until I noticed one of my wheel cylinders leaking. SO I replaced both of them since I was going to have it apart anyway. Put it all back together.... was...

My car has a timing chain and Im told it should last the life of the car. However, I really would like to change it at 150,000. I would also like to do everything from engine tune up, to new struts. I know I need both rotors turned or rplaced as well.

How Many Miles Do You Have?

My 98 has 125,000 on it now. I drive about 450 miles per week. At 150,000 miles I woud like to do a complete tune up. My comute is 45 miles one way all interstate driving. If I keep it at 65 mph I get 5 more mpg than I would if I drove 70 mph. So Im at 40 mpg plus with my car. I too want a...

    Bad Vibration

Did you ever get your car fixed? It may be a dirty or bad fuel injector. Thats what t sounds like to me. When you step on the pedal you are forcing gas through it. But at a red light or idle, it struggle to get gas. Try a bottle of Sea Foam in the gas tank. Hope it helps. JER

    New guy

Hello everyone. My name is Jeremy and I am a first time corolla owner so I figured it made as much sense to join the forum. I found my 1998 Toyota Corolla with 89000 original miles at a used car lot. I consider myself pretty lucky to find a car this nice (recently new paint job) for only $3700...
