can i use a xrs ecu with a regular corolla dash cluster? or do i need to buy an xrs dash cluster when i buy an xrs ecu

i have a 2003 corolla, with the 1zz-fe and the c59 transmission and no ABS. unfortunately my engine has a hard knock. so im looking into swapping it for the 2zz. Do i need to have ABS on my car in order to do the swap? I read that some where but im not sure. Any help would be much appreciated
