My 09 Corolla ran great up and down the ramps to change the oil yesterday, then today won't start. It cranks and every once in a while hiccups like it's going to run, but does not. I cannot hear the fuel pump running and confirmed this with the seat off. The fuses all look good, and I even swapped out the EFI 1 and 2 fuses for good measure...no change.
Here are the symptoms and steps taken so far:
So 2 questions:
Here are the symptoms and steps taken so far:
- Car doesn't start, but cranks
- Has spark
- Fires for a moment but runs rough, even on starting fluid. Doesn't seem to run as long as it should
- Builds 45+ PSI fuel pressure when activated manually
- Fuel pump does not run at all when key is switched on
- Fuel pump runs when activated through Solus scanner, so all wiring through the computer and to the pump is good
- Swapped the blue 5 prong relay at the drivers side with no change
- All fuses good
So 2 questions:
- What would kill the fuel pump outside of what has been checked. Inertia switches?
- Would this also make it run poorly on starting fluid?
