1980 Corolla Starter Nightmare

#1
my friends brother in law is letting us use a 1980 1.8 for this up and coming work season thinking all we had to do was replace the starter, we did that and we still just get the dreaded click when the key is turned. we tested the starter and its fine, checked to see if the lights dim when we crank and they do which rules out the ignition switch, we have been trying to locate the starter relay but since the entire car is jerry rigged that is looking to be the hardest part of this job...any help?

sounds like it might be in the trans/torque converter depending on whether it is an auto or a 5 speed. could have a locked up flywheel/torque converter... like i said depends on which trans it has. just take a flathead screwdriver to the teeth of where the starter connects and see if u can spin the wheel the teeth of what the starter connects too.
