1991 4AFE throttle stop adjustment

#1
Ok . . . I have the Corolla Service Manual. Can't seem to locate anything concerning this adjustment. I find the 'dash pot', 'idle adj screw', TPS info; no throttle/butterfly stop info.

The reason I ask is due to the fact that other than keeping the butterfly plate from contacting the throat of the throttle body, it also affects idle speed.

For some reason, unbeknownst to me, my 1991Corolla (3sp auto) has developed a hard start prob after warmup; I have to depress the throttle pedal a little to get the engine to start and then everything is fine.

1) fixed/cleared computer codes

2) checked repaired vacuum lines

3) first cold start is fine

4) MAPS ops ck ok, did not ck the calibration (removed the vac line during idle)

5) aux air vlv, ok

6) ICS ops ck, ok

7) a/c idle up, just fine

What I did was, crack the butterfly more open, readjust the TPS and reset the idle screw. Not sure if this worked as it became dark and 'miller time'.

Anyone have an idea why no info on the butterfly plate adj screw??

Thanks for your input.

This wagon at 244K miles is still strong and GLH !
