1998 Corolla - Help to Replace Gear Selector Lightbulb

#1
Just bought a 1998 Corolla for my son...180+K miles. Several of the control panel lights are burned out. I think I have figured out how to replace all of them except the one for the (automatic) gear selector. My main problem is how to remove the large "front" cover...not the console covering the emergency break lever...the other one that directly connects with the lower part of the dash. I am confident I can change the gear selector bulb if I can remove that cover. How difficult is it to remove this cover? Any insights on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Believe they are clipped in. Use a flathead with electrical tape on it, and take your time prying it up. Work slowly, and if it doesn't come off with moderate pressure, assume that there is a bolt holding it down.

A Chiltons or a Haynes may help as well.
