2003 corolla excessive oil consumption

#1
Hi, I have a 2003 corolla and recently it uses a lot of oil. It doesn't smoke out the exhaust, have any leak, or have any abnormal smell but every 500 miles I can see the level go down on the dipstick, just wondering if anyone knows what this could be?

I have the same year car, look up VVTI and oil consumption, I noticed my car does eat a lot of oil compared to the old and new Subarus I own. I thought it was the oil but I'll see if that makes a difference since i won't be doing any of the fixes I see for it at this point. I used the Valvoline high mileage syn blend but I'll use the full syn.

I thought it was just the engine getting old at first and I drive the car hard when I use to drive about 40 miles a day, it has about 160k miles on it now.

My commute is less than 10~ miles round trip for the last 3 years so barely able to beat it up these days to extend the life of the engine before I buy a new car. Probably not a Toyota with a VVTI engine.
