2005 Corolla - Charcoal Canister Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, new here. Last year purchased a used '05 Corolla LS with about 90k on the odo. Did a forum search of the canister and didn't find much (surprised for I thought this topic was a recurring problem with older Corolla/Matrix vehicles). Anyway, got a CEL and the codes P2401, P043E, P043F, P2402, and P2419 (Evap system). Through research (on-line and talking to mechanics) all indications were bad charcoal canister. Replaced the canister with a new one. Several days later, codes returned. Ordered a new gas cap (waiting to receive...maybe if lucky a cheap fix)...otherwise, anyone w/ any ideas as to where to proceed next? Read on another forum where a fella had a bad wiring connection from the ECM to the canister in the trunk. I've also read horror stories of dealers/shops throwing new components one by one on the car hoping for a resolution...racking up a bill in the $1000's. Any advice/recs. are appreciated. Also noticed the tachometer randomly bouncing around...might this point to a faulty ECM (ECU)? Thanks.
