I'm hoping someone here can help with this. We've got a 2006 Corolla with 257,100 miles on it. Still runs perfect, gets 30 MPG on the freeway, interior is perfect, car is still straight as an arrow and we love it. However, it jas recently picked up 2 problems. A week or so ago, the charging light started staying on dimly. The other problem is the maintenance required light. It came on about a month ago and I've tried several times to clear it like I always have but now it won't turn off.
Here's what I have done so far.
I have put on a new alternator.
Replaced the serpentine belt.
Replaced the battery and cleaned all connections.
Cleaned battery to frame connection.
Voltage reading at idle with lights on is 14.11 volts.
I have cleaned and checked the (-) battery lead to frame reading and it is 0 Ω. (+) battery lead to alternator is in excellent condition. All fuses pulled and check out good.
Had the computer read, and there are no codes.
I am at the point of, what the _ell? Nothing I have done has made any difference. The charging light is still faintly on and I can't clear the maintenance required light.
