2011 Toyota Corolla Heat Help

#1
Hey all.

So my car has 3 knobs. One to point where the air goes, how much air to blow, and whether to blow cold/hot. Normal setup, obviously.

Recently the knob that says where to point the heat got really tight while turning it. This was tight for awhile till something eventual snapped and now its loose. Now the heat consistently blows defrost, feet, and at my head. No matter what position I have the knob in.

I've also noticed that if my car is fully up to temp and I come to a stop, that the warm air turns to cold air until I start moving again. I've tried:

Turning it to cold and back to warm
Turning the amount of air off and all the way back on.
Turning the car on and off.

None of these really did anything. I obviously know that something is broken behind the direction knob, but I wouldn't think that would affect how hot the air is. I put a new thermostat in February 2019. Havent noticed any coolant/oil leaks at all.

I believe that the cable that controls the blend door and the temperature have broken. That being said the cable assemblies are not expensive and are not too difficult to replace.
