2013 Corolla LE Touch Screen Radio Conversion

#1
Hello,

I recently traded my 2011 Corolla for a 2013. I am enjoying what features that are upgraded such as the touchscreen radio but the only options I have are CD, AM, FM, USB and AUX. I would like to know if there is a way to install or activate an on screen GPS and satellite radio. I understand that extra hardware maybe needed. Does anyone know how to get into the file system our upgrade the firmware of these touch screen radios? Thank you.

I am in the same boat I have the same radio I will be monitoring this thread. Just to let you know I was thinking of installing a tablet by just pushing the stock radio back an inch or so. Problem is I need to fashion a bracket to do this. I think that would be easier then trying to get a new radio.....Thoughts

installing a tablet instead of a radio is pretty much a custom thing, i have done a few so far and while it may seem like a great idea, folks always seem to forget that tablets really werent made for that kinda thing. if its a big touch screen withs functionallity and the convenience of android or ios apps you want, try looking into something like the pioneer App radio, ---->http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+3+(SPH-DA210)
or the JVC KWAVX840 ----> http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028781&pathId=133&page=1&archive=true
both are great radios and sync up via bluetooth to your smartphone and basically what ever media you have on your phone will not only play but be controlled through those head units.
