2016 - Strong Fuel Smell Inside Cabin

#1
My '16 Corolla LE Eco has 120,000 miles

About a year ago, we started noticing an gas/fuel odor inside the cabin (windows up). It's gotten worse over the past year. Car is not throwing any codes, and runs like a clock, so I don't really want to start throwing parts at it, trying to remedy the situation.

I've tried to narrow down times that the smell appears, but lately it seems to get worse when I stop at a red light. I NEVER run the car below a half-tank of fuel, but the smell persists whether the tank is full, half, or somewhere in-between. At first I thought it had to do with stops made on an incline, but that's not it, either.

I'm wondering if it could be something like this:

...of if it's the fuel vapor canister:

(wow! That's expensive!)

It's not causing any issues, other than my wife constantly complaining about it. I'm still getting 42 mpg, so I'm fairly certain I'm not leaving any fuel.

Thoughts?

Another random thought - when I was filling up the car a few days back, the pump didn't stop when the tank was full. Fuel continued to run down the side of the car, until I turned off the lock on the pump nozzle. I can't remember this ever happening to me, in any car, in the last 30+ years. I don't think it's related, but it's a weird coincidence.
