Hello, my corolla has been having some issues which seem to be getting worse. My car grinds when it is shifted into reverse and is very difficult to shift there. Also, first sometimes doesn't go in. I'll be at a stoplight and go to put the car into first and it won't go in! Very frightening. I figure something is wrong which may not be worth the money to fix. Any thoughts appreciated.

Could be your clutch im not sure if your car has a hydraulic clutch which needs fluid i had an older toyota truck that would do that here it was low on fluid top it off and there could be air in the line like brakes it has to be blead , your clutch fluid fill is usually by the brake master cylinder try that
