All Electrical cut out while driving! Help!

Suddenly today while driving home from work the radio powered off then back on with the same radio station on. Then, on the same trip home all the electrical components inside the car shut off then back on. The radio even came back on with the same radio station. I was listening to and the car continued to drive normally. This happened 3 more times on my way home. I feel like if it's the battery losing connection the radio's presets would have been erased. Not sure it that correct. Based on forums I've seen online I believe it may be related to the ignition switch. Does that sound possible? I'm hoping to get the opinion of someone more knowledgeable than myself before I spend the $150 on a new ignition switch. Obviously I dont have the money to take it to a mechanic so any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
