Bearings in Transmission

I have a '02 Prizm, It seemed to have a noisy wheel bearing. I brought it to a shop to have it replaced. The mechanic said it wasn't a wheel bearing but the bearings inside the transmission are bad. He told me the CV shafts can be moved up and down and are leaking oil. He wasn't sure if the bearings can be replaced.(he's looking into it) Has anyone had this problem? Note: (the car is a 5 speed) Thanks

C.v shaft not too expensive to replace . I just replace mine I bought my cv shaft at Part Geek $ 60 bearing inside the tranny I would ask for second opinion.if it's wheel bearing it press on bearing I replace mine parts only $ 25 to 30
