CVT Issues: More with the 'Sport mode' feature?

#1
I'm looking to buy a 2017 Corolla I'm renting (will have inspected tomorrow). I thought I was getting an LE but it's an SE.

Does the Sport feature ( and paddles )cause more issues (including the one that Toyota ahs a suspended campaign for)?

Or is all of that just more electronic inputs to the same mechanism?

Same unit, different electronic. The service campaign is for all models anyway. Had mine done (they are going on in Canada). Can't say I notice a difference.

According to Toyota verbatim...

"Sport mode increases throttle response to help you accelerate faster. It also changes the transmission programming to shift at higher, more performance-oriented RPM than normal. Lastly, the Electric Power Steering assist will adjust to give you a sportier driving feel at road speeds. Driving in this mode will enhance performance."
