Discontinued FOB & immobiliser issue

Hi everyone. I have an issue with my 98 conquest. My FOB ( which controls the immobiliser & central locking) has had its day. According to the dealership i cant get a new one as they are no longer made & without an exsisting working FOB i couldn't programme a new one anyway. The only option the dealership offered was a referral to a local auto electrician to install a new immobiliser. The quote for this was substantial. More than I played for the car lol. Anyways.. I'm now without a vehicle for work as I can't seem to bypass the immobiliser. Honestly it's been weeks & I need the car going with or without the antitheft system. Any suggestions as to what I can do would be appreciated... thanks
