Engine Bay Light Ideas

#1
Hey guys, I want to install engine bay lighting, not for looks, but so that I can see under the hood at night. I want to have it simply hooked up to a manual switch, nothing fancy.

Do any of you guys have any ideas on how to attach LED strips or something of the sort (I'm open to anything) to the underside of the hood so that the lights and/or the adhesive or whatever are not destroyed by the heat of the engine? My thought is putting 2 strips, one on each side of the underside of the hood, 6 inches or so in from each side. This still doesn't solve the issue of how to safely attach the strips to the hood though.

Oh, and if anyone cares, I drive a 2014 Corolla S+.

Any idea? Thanks!

IMG_1403.JPG This is a DRL strip LED. I ran the wires through the hood so they are hidden. I have a mercury switch attached to the hood hinge. Ran the positive to the fuse box and used one of those "add a circuit" taps. Negative wire just goes where ever it's convenient. All exposed wire is wrapped in that braided flex wire loom stuff. (Forgot the name at the moment).
The whole setup only cost me about $20 bucks and I have enough parts left over to do another hood.

Wow very nice setups, both of you! I was picturing a setup like what @Scott Lakin has but I love the DRL idea. The link for the tilt switch isn't working though. I also happen to notice the hood struts @Chris Denton , what did you use and how did you attach them?
Yeah, the tilt switch isn't available anymore. I wonder if it's because of the mercury? I'm sure one can be found on eBay.
The hood struts come as a kit. There are little brackets that attach to the hood hinges. You will have to cut part of the cowl to get them to close or order a cowl for the Altis from Japan lol
