I bought these LED Moving Door scuffs from China for my corolla 2 years ago but couldn't figure out how to tap into the circuit that activates the map light when you open the door.
Seeing it laying around in my garage, I gave it another go this weekend. I took apart the map light to see where i can tap into for these scuff lights. Turns out, I can just insert the + and - wires between the contact points of the bulb housing and the metal plate that provides power when you switch map light to one of 3 position ( manual on/off, open door, always on). Took me a total of about 3 hours playing with the multimeter to see where power is coming from, running wires, solder wires.
Here is the result:
It's really bright. Looks very cool when it glows in the dark.
