Lifting Corolla FX

#1
Hey guys i've got an 88 FX 4AC
It has a healthy 323,000 miles on it and i've been debating weather or not i want to lower or raise it.
As i find myself getting older i find lowering a car to be a bit stupid (no offense) unless its for a proper race set-up.
So i'm thinking i'll raise it.
My understanding is that there are many struts that fit on these cars but the best i've found is using AW11 MR2 struts and springs.
That is... using mr2 rear struts and springs on front and back of the corolla. From my research they seem to be 1" taller than corolla struts and the springs are much stiffer than corollas.
This should gain me some height over stock and the only modification needed to make a rear strut fit on the front of the corolla is to drill some new holes for the tophat.

Does anyone have a better suggestions for a strut/spring combo?

Tires are the next issue as i'd like to run the 14" MR2 wheels or just plain steel wheels.
From looking at it on MR2 wheels and tires the are extremely close to the spring perch and strut tube already.
How would i go about fitting larger tires? Spacers?
Does anyone know the largest tire i can fit without spacers?
