Main beam head lights not working

#1
Hi
Have 2005 1.4 Toyota Corolla main beams not working

Checked fuses in engine compartment. ... ok
Low beam & high beam work

I've been told it maybe the stalk (indicator / headlamp switch)

Can anyone signpost me to what the problem is ,,,,

Noticed 40a fuse in engine compartment missing but there are standard 15 amp fuses that are fine

1. You'll need to pull the top skin off from the steering column (cover)
2. There is a screw behind the steering wheel when turned 90 degrees. Turn the other way to reveal a screw the other side.
3. Disconnect battery terminals.
4. Pop the cover from the seam with a small flathead screwdriver. I poped mine from the center side of the vehicle.
5. Behind the headlight stick you can pop off the back of the switches on the stick.
6. Press the back of the switches firmly and rotate the switch to scrape clear the connections from the muck that is breaking the connection. (I wasn't able to remove the stick so I found this to help without having to pull it apart completely)
7. Reconnect battery and check lights.
8. Put the cover back on the back of the switch.
9. Put cover back on and return screws to required locations
10. Drive at night :)
