I'm the happy new owner of a 1999 Corolla VE 5 speed with 139,000 miles. The two previous
owners maintained the car well and some work was done to the engine at about 58,000 miles
to stop it from burning oil. I'm considering using Amsoil oil and oil filters and am wondering if
this would be a good idea. From everything I've read, it seems like it would be. I probably won't
be driving the car more than 5,000 or so miles a year - would an annual oil and oil filter change
be ok and what weight oil would be best? I live in the Piedmont of North Carolina where it doesn't
usually get really cold in the winter, but can get hot and humid in the summer.
