New to the Forum - Don't Own a Corolla Yet

#1
Hey there,

I'm looking for another car since my sentra spec-v was written off by water damage.

I'm looking at either a Mitsu Lancer or the Corollla cause it's a great car that lasts a long time.

I am having issue deciding if I want an XRS or get a type S and place some mods on it. I have been reading and trying to decipher the different engines in these cars.

Could I safely slap a turbo on the type S (it's a 1.8 I think) or is it just not worth it.

Also I wouldn't mind a Corolla shell with a blown motor and swapping something in it.

I'm looking to spend no more than $7000 on the car all said and done.

The Toyota Corolla is an economy car. It's not meant to go fast and if the big money were spent to add a turbocharger to the engine, then the suspension, brakes and transmission would all have to be beefed up to safely handle the power. After spending all that money to do that, you would have spent less money just buying a performance car from the get-go.
