Replacing Doors

#1
Hi,

My missus has a 2005 Corolla hatchback, which has the drivers wing mirror basically hanging off. The woman who owned it before her tried to glue it on with super glue, and managed to get it all down the door..

I've found a lad with a new door (manual windows, electric mirrors) for a reasonable price. Does any one know how big a job it would be to swap the doors and locks over?

Or would it be easier to somehow sand the door back and paint it whilst it's on the car?

You'll have to pull off the interior panels of both doors to pull wiring from the old door before removal and place the wires into the new door after installation. Aside from that you're talking 4 bolts. The locks might be tough to get to if you have big hands.

Probably better off sanding the door down, but try this first.

Tape around the glue, get acetone, and put a light amount on a shop rag and rub just enough to get the glue off. If you do too much you gotta paint anyway so no loss, but you may be able to have the acetone eat at the super glue without killing the clear coat if you work slow.
