Upgrading Speakers- HELP

#1
Hey guys, I own a 2006 corolla LE and have been looking to replace the front and back speakers in it. Nothing too crazy, just better sound. I purchased Kicker DS60 6-1/2 coaxial speakers for the front and Kicker DS693 6x9 3-way speakers for the rear. I installed the two rear speakers and the driver's side front speaker and then realized that the bass coming from them is severely lacking. The stock speakers are producing more bass than the kickers and it's noticeable. So I returned them and got some 6x9 pioneers and 6-1/2 Sony's and the same thing happened. Can anyone explain this??

*Side note -- I installed an FM modulator in order to listen to my ipod and it needed power so spliced it into the radio power. Could this be the problem?*

I have alpine speakers but a sub will work the best IMO. I have just a bass tube from crutchfield that was like $100 I think. Its just a 8" sub but works fine for me

The problem may lie with the impedance of the speakers. The factory fitted ones most probably have a higher impedance compared to the ones you are trying to fit. As a result, your stock HU may not have the power to drive your new speakers.

Thats what always happens. AMP those babies. People don't realize good sound and all frequency ranges come from more power. Ive done many systems but being 35 i need good sound not loud sound you will notice a big difference even from just a little one. 100x2. Factory speakers are one way speakers and produce that muddy base, its not real base. Your new speakers are ready for action with an amp. :)

does anybody know what the stock speakers are in the 2011 S? Also I used to have an S10 and a Ram, so this is my first car, so what do you guys think about subs...Single or double? I don't want to take up all of my trunk space either.

I am currently looking at a Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X350BHS/Pioneer-AVH-X3500BHS.html

and Rockford Fosgate Punch P1692

with Rockford Fosgate Prime R165-S

Also any tips/tricks for replacing these pieces?

Thank you

I got 500 watts to 3 channels. I got 2 12" I bridge 2 8ohm speakers to a 4ohm load on one channel. Other 2 channel 6x9 and front deck for doors and tweeters in ceiling. Sounds really good. Pioneers all around. I can hear everything.

To Rayray86 looks good for a system. I would rather bump those fosgates to 3-way speakers minimum. And my opinion 2 subs for trunks is the way to go unless you have a hatchback. Or 1 darn good sub with really good box. I did one sub for my 08. but preferred 2 after a month. But boy do I miss my trunck space. Lol

Dumb question, I know, and you probably did...but did you swap the head unit. I did a swap in my '07 without doing the head unit and it sounded like crap until I did...
