I have a 1999 Corolla and I love it, I bought it new but this is my first time posting on the Corolla forum. The placement of the cig lighter/12V DC socket was pretty poor on this model and the fact that it is dependent on the ignition switch makes it even worse. I would like to supplement the socket by replacing the coin holder, that I never user, next to the emergency brake with a USB socket or sockets, preferably one with at least 1 5V / 2.1A output. My questions are:
- Has anyone done this on this model?
- What USB devices did you get and from where?
- Did you have to do any cutting to make the USB socket fit?
- What do you need to do to make the socket(s) independent of the ignition switch?
