Water on spark plug misfire.

#1
Hi all,

I have a Corolla Verso 7 seater, 1.6 petrol, 2008 reg.

Recently I’ve had a misfire on cylinder 1 where clear water had found its way on top of the spark plug.

A few weeks later the same happened on cylinder 3.

This problem has also occurred on cylinders 2 and then 4, all in the last eight weeks.

The water is definitely clear, not coolant or oil.
The rubber plug leads are not damaged and there is also a cover over the plugs.

How/why is it getting there and how do I solve it??

Many thanks in anticipation...

Unless I'm missing something, the only way water is getting in there is from condensation and not sure how your engine is making so much its causing a misfire.

Your car sounds different from USA models. Is it a foreign model only?

I’m in the UK so does that count as ‘foreign’? Lol

And to be fair, there is quite a lot of water getting in. The most recent time easily had 15-20mm on top of the plug. Strange!

If you say the plug boots look normal, then I have no idea how water is getting in there. I dont think it can be anything other than condensation. Might want to try a dealer
