I have a 2011 corolla. just bought this used. 38500 miles. a mechanic says the fluid is ok but should be changed soon due to the mileage. seems to be working fine. does the transmission fluid need to be changed or not? this will cost me $153 so I don't want to spend the money if it's not needed...

bought this car used. found a little dampness in the trunk today on the carpet/mat. see the image. do all corolla trunks look like this or is it safe to say there was a leak and someone tried to repair it?

mine seems to be every 5000 miles if I use regular oil, 10,000 if I use synthetic. which is confusing because I thought a mechanic told me this car takes synthetic. so synthetic dont need to be changed at 5000 miles does it?
