    2010 Corolla Starting Issue

My recently purchased 2009 Corolla does have an intermittent starting issue as well. It'll crank and will sometimes only start if I tap the gas. Right now I'm thinking that it's either dirty fuel injectors, dirty throttle body, dirty maf sensor, or fouled spark plugs. I'll start by doing the...

Common issues / how to spot

The oil consumption problem was only on some 2009-2012 Corolla XRS's with the 2.4L engine. The Corolla CE has the 1.8L engine so it won't have any oil consumption problems. Things to look for is to see if the water pump has been done with the updated unit (some early 2010's had the early design...

    3rd Gear Crunch

Well in my case, I did change my transmission fluid to RP Synchromax around April of this past year... then it all leaked out because my axle seal was torn. I've also found out my transmission wasn't very well taken care of by the previous owners since when I did my fluid change, it seemed to be...

2012 Toyota Corolla s 4 wheel disk brake conversion

I've been looking to do this myself. As far as I know, the 10th gen Corolla XRS, 2nd gen Matrix that have rear discs and torsion beam rear suspension, and possibly the 11th gen Corolla S all have rear discs that we can install onto our 10th gens to replace the rear drums. There's a DIY on...

Can gear shift labels be illuminated in Corolla 2013?

They are illuminated in all of the automatic 10th gens from 09-13. You can get a new bulb at the Toyota dealer for like $3-$4 and the install is straight forward by following the links above. You just need to remember to swap the yellow plastic from the old bulb to the new one.

Should I have a new clutch installed in my 2012 Corolla CE with manual transmission?

That's an okay price actually. The clutch must be a good OEM quality clutch for that price so you should have no problem with longevity. I still think it's possible to get a clutch job done for under $1000 CAD but that depends on your location as well as what shop does it for you. Either way...

Should I have a new clutch installed in my 2012 Corolla CE with manual transmission?

That's good to hear! What clutch did you go with and do you know how much the clutch itself costed?

Can a 2011 Toyota Corolla have 14 inch rims?

I was looking into this and supposedly 14's would be too small. If I were you, I'd get a 14" wheel from a junkyard and test it to see if it'll clear the calipers.

    2011 Corolla A/C delayed cooling

Sounds like a weak compressor. Have you tried recharging the A/C?

Crusie control work only when steering wheel is turned

Have you considered that your clockspring may need to be replaced?

    Won't always start...

Could it be that the engine is getting flooded by fuel which causes it to not start sometimes? Maybe look into that and why the engine is doing that.

    Code P0788 & P0977 Fix?

Have you ever changed the transmission fluid in your car before? If not, check the dipstick and see how the condition of the fluid is. Usually, people who never service their auto transmission fluid will result in the transmission fluid degrading and damaging the shift solenoids. I'd start by...

    Click Noise Help

Take the serpentine belt off and spin each pulley to see if one of them is making the clicking noise. I have a feeling it's the alternator pulley.

2009 Corolla 1.8 CE / Many Things stopped working suddenly

That's good that you solved the problem. The rough idle can be remedied by resetting the car's computer. You can do that by removing the negative wire on the battery for 10-15 minutes then reconnecting it. You'll get a rough idle for a bit but that's the computer relearning the idle.

2009 Corolla 1.8 CE / Many Things stopped working suddenly

It seems you shorted out a few components. The fuses must have blown so I'd check that first. Also, what wires were you messing with and have you tried undoing the wiring that you messed with?

Can I/Should I mod my 2009 Corolla XLE?

Deciding if a certain car is worth modding is up to the owner in my opinion. What do you do with your car and what exactly do you want to improve on it? If you daily drive it and want more pep, you can do simple things like an upgraded intake and a throttle controller. If you want more...

Should I have a new clutch installed in my 2012 Corolla CE with manual transmission?

I'd say that's about above average mileage for a clutch replacement based on normal driving. A clutch is a wear item so much like other wear items such as brake pads, it's life can be shortened or extended depending on how it's used. People who are still learning to drive stick will shorten a...

Should I have a new clutch installed in my 2012 Corolla CE with manual transmission?

$1,500 seems quite a bit for a clutch job. My cousin had to do a clutch job on his 2006 Acura TSX and that cost him ~$700-800 CAD including the clutch itself. Doing a clutch job on a Corolla is also a lot more easier than doing one on a TSX so you should look around and find a cheaper quote from...
