It almost sounds like some kind of relay that is going bad. Is there anything on the car that doesn't work/work correctly?

Give it time. I've had tint on all my cars (it gets hot in Georgia summers) and when I drive a rental or someone else's car without tint it feels weird to me. You'll eventually get used to it!

I'm having issues when the car is running. Not trying to open/close the sunroof on battery power alone (which I would agree would be a problem if the batt was bad).

As soon as I get power run off the battery, I'll do that. I had it set up in my old Corolla that, sadly, it died last year in a crash :( Right now I'm running off a power adapter (aka: cigarette lighter)....yeah, I know, not good for ham radios.

I was actually considering some of the static-cling, easy to peel off darker tint that I could leave on in the summer, and take off in the winter. Pros: easy, cheap, quick to remove if I have to. Cons: may look like crap.

I finally got around to installing my 2 meter Yaesu ham radio in my 2014 Corolla. Anyone have any tips, posts, videos, or other advice on running power off the battery thru the firewall? Best place to do it? I certainly don't want to drill anything if I don't have it.
