2002 Corolla - Change in Engine Idling Noise

Hello
I have 2002 Corolla. I stay in Alaska with extreme cold conditions. I have recently observed a change in engine idling and firing noise. Whenever I start the engine, the engine makes more noise than it used to earlier. Sometime when I stop (e.g. at traffic light), the noise gets louder. However it does not happen the same always. I have regularly changed engine oil with top up of all other fluids at reputed car shops. I am worried what these changes in noise are all about and is there anything to worry about?
Please advise.

Does the noise go away after the engine is thoroughly warmed up? Are you using a good performing synthetic oil in the bitter cold of Alaska?
